After the first full day here at the Greene Summer Institute, I can honestly say that I have learned more about writing and shooting for news than in an entire year of my high school’s journalism elective. I can’t say that I’m surprised (my school puts out 4 editions of the newspaper on a good year), but the program has shown me how exhausting, yet rewarding, being a journalist can be.
Living on a college campus has also given me a glimpse of what my life will be like in a little over a year. The food is generally worse than what I eat at home (especially the eggs) and I haven’t been this tired since finals week. But that’s college life.
