After two days of focusing mainly on the art of photography, yesterday we turned our attention to sports coverage. In preparation for the Long Island Ducks game and our coverage of it, our team listened to a lesson from Newsday reporter Jordan Lauterbach. He was able to offer up many interesting tips for successfully writing about sports as a whole. He also went through some of our store ideas and helped to develop them before getting to the park.
After a tour of the Newsday headquarters we headed over to Bethpage Ballpark for the main event. With the help of a Stony Brook undergraduate student, my team and I traveled around the stadium interviewing spectators, collecting video, and capturing still photos. This was an extremely interesting experience for an aspiring sports writer such as myself. From the pregame press conference to the post-win firework show, yesterday’s events will not soon be forgotten.
