Let me just start by saying that I love this camp.
If I had to pick one adjective to describe it, I would choose the word ‘new’. Staple that word to everything.
Sharing a dorm with four other girls? That’s new. A Mac computer with two screens? That’s new too. But I have to say, I love it.
I love running around campus, taking pictures with a professional camera and videotaping random rooms with a tripod, holding mock interviews. I love comparing school newspapers, and I love learning how to use real equipment and techniques. Most of all, I love being around people who are loving everything just as much as I am.
I have to admit, 6:30 is a bit rough. I’ve been following the typical teen summer sleep schedule, which is basically nocturnal (not really).
I hear my roommate Emily get up for her shower, and my immediate thought is ‘Thank the lord, I still have thirty minutes.’ My second thought is ‘Thank the lord I shower at night.’ All I can say is kudos to her. If you’re reading this Emily, know that I admire your ability to wake up early. As well as your hair’s ability to dry before breakfast.
I think my favorite part of the past two days was our lessons in portraits. It’s been so amazing to work with our instructor John Williams. He truly knows what he’s talking about and I’ve learned things I didn’t know I didn’t know. But anyway, today we got to pair off in buddies (hi Alicia) and go practice our portrait-taking skills.
